Karnataka issued 43.8 lakh SIR notices. Where they landed is the story.
The Election Commission enumerated 5.54 crore electors across 224 assembly seats. 4.46 crore forms were digitized. From those, 43,80,740 electors have been flagged for a notice. The rate ranges from 0.03% in one seat to 60.34% in another, and the gap between them is not explained by population.

Urban notices and rural notices do not come from the same cause
Every notice is either an anomaly in the submitted form or a no mapping failure, where the elector could not be matched to the previous roll. Sorted left to right by how much of each seat's notice count comes from no mapping, the tall bars collect almost entirely at the no-mapping end.
